Hello, I’m Jennifer. Im glad you’re here. Life may feel overwhelming right now but you’re in the right place.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Alcohol and Addiction Counselor (CADC). I’ve been working in the field of counseling since 2008.
I also have an array of personal experience that has helped me hone my therapeutic approach. I see my clients from a psychodynamic lens. This means that I work with clients with an understanding that our early experiences and relationships have a profound impact on our current well-being.
Professionally, I’ve worked in a variety of settings from hospitals and hospices to non-profits and private practice. I believe that the therapy relationship is an intimate, and important one. The therapy environment, whether it be in office or through tele-health, should be safe, warm, and judgement free.
My scope of practice is:
Adult individual therapy
Culturally Competent therapy
Trauma- specifically: chronic illness, chronic pain, end of life, grief, adoption and family complexities, healing after conversion therapy, family therapy for addiction, compassion fatigue, and surviving abuse.
Welcome! I am Sophia, and I am so glad you are taking the first steps towards a brighter and more fulfilling future. I am a Masters level therapist, awaiting my LPC licensure. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and I have special training in trauma-focused CBT for children ages 8 and up. I have post-grad training and certification in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I have been in the field for seven years, and have experience working with crisis units, in community mental health settings, in substance abuse settings, and in a school setting. I practice from a Humanistic approach. This means that I believe healing comes from within and all clients are aware of what skills they need to overcome their current situation. My goal is to also assist you in accessing your feelings, understanding them, and finding more fulfillment in life.
I specialize in working with those suffering from depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, PTSD, sexual assault/abuse, and those struggling with concerns related to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and political climate. I have experience working with LGBTQ population, BIPOC population, and those reintegrating after serving time in prison/jail.
